After some flat dirt road, ascend a zig-zag path towards Elephant’s Eye, and join the path back to the dam. Not difficult, but long.

0842067796 ±4 hours from Cape Town. 5 day wilderness hike on the beaches near Koekenaap on the West Coast. The first and last night you sleep over the “Kliphuis” All backpacks, tents, food, etc. are transported to the next overnight spot. Approx 18 km a day. You supply your own food for the trail, except for the last night when the owners give a braai (drinks excluded). Food (packed in cool boxes) can be frozen and delivered to the overnight spot daily. You carry a day pack with sufficient water (min 2 Ltrs) and snacks, binoculars or whatever else.

Very steep down hill entry, boulder hopping, some uphill shortcuts and river crossings, otherwise fairly flat but very hot. Will drop down into Canyon (very steep) on Sunday Afternoon (16th). Medical certificates are required. Full pack with possible water to carry, no ablution facilities, sleep under stars.

Continuing south, we climb gently and enter the Amphitheatre. A descent through Echo Valley brings us to Kalk Bay, with many sources of beer and cappuccino.

For a truly unique experience, sleep on Friday night in a double decker bus, then hike through a forest, beautiful fynbos and shady kloofs, (this is a Natural Heritage Site) and then sleep in a cave. The huts contain 12 bunk beds with mattresses, toilets, drinking water, fire wood and basic cooking and braaing utensils. No electricity or showers. A fairly tough trail – good fitness levels required.
