How to join Meridian

Meridian welcomes anybody with an interest in hiking. Membership is open to anyone over the age of eighteen.

The membership fee is R120 per annum (March to February). New members joining after March pay pro rata according to which month they join (i.e. R120 less R10 per month), up until January of the following year, from which point onwards, the fee includes automatic early renewal for the next year's membership at the discounted rate of R100.

Please note, at any point before the AGM in March, all members, both old and new, have the option of the discounted early renewal fee of R100 (i.e. R120 less R20).

Please deposit your membership fee directly into the 'Meridian Hiking Club' Account, Nedbank, Claremont Branch; Branch Code: 104609; CURRENT A/C No.1046348396. Include your name for identification. E-mail proof of payment to denise@meridian.org.za. You become a member when you receive your Membership number.

If you wish to find out more about an event beforehand, phone the event co-ordinator, whose name and number is published alongside the relevant event. There is a R15 guest fee for non-members on day hikes and R15 per day on longer trails.

Supper club, pub evenings and other social events are a great opportunity to meet other club members and share experiences. Guests are required to pay the R15 guest fee for socials as well.

Members do get first preference in booking for trails and weekends away, but non-members can also book if there is space. If it is a trail, the trail co-ordinator needs to be convinced that fitness requirements are met.
