How to join Meridian

Meridian welcomes anybody with an interest in hiking. Membership is open to those over the age of eighteen.You may join Meridian by:

  1. filling in the on-line application form
  2. downloading the application form in either PDF or MS Word formats. You will need to print the downloaded form, fill it in and then send it along with a cheque for your membership fee to:

The membership fee is R96 per annum (March to February), or pro rata (i.e. less R8 per month). Please do not make payment until you have received a letter from the membership secretary confirming the amount.

You may also deposit your membership fee directly in the 'Meridian Hiking Club' Account, Nedbank, Claremont Branch; Branch Code: 104609; CURRENT A/C No.1046348396. Advise Beverley at bevlothian@meridian.org.za or fax 021 415 4897 with your deposit details. Include your name for identification. You become a member immediately we receive your payment.

If you wish to find out more about an event beforehand, phone the event co-ordinator, whose name and number is published alongside the relevant event. There is a R10 guest fee for non-members on day hikes and R10 per day on longer trails.

Supper club, pub evenings and other social events are a great opportunity to meet other club members and share experiences. Guests are required to pay the R10 guest fee for socials as well.

Members do get first preference in booking for trails and weekends away, but non-members can also book if there is space. If it is a trail, the trail co-ordinator needs to be convinced that fitness requirements are met.
